Have you ever been inspired to make a purple sympathy card? Well, we weren’t called to this one other than by the scraps on our table.

Sympathy cards don’t always have to be in dark colors. Just like masculine cards don’t all have to be in browns or have tools and cars on them.

Do you recognize the Designer Series Paper? It’s the new Thoughtful Journey 6″x6″ Paper that’s been so popular. (It’s in stock right now.)

The squares are just 1-1/2″ square and the layer that holds them is 3-3/8″ wide. She cut it just a little longer than the space needed for the greeting.

We used some leftover pieces from the gift card holder we did for the high school grad I barked about in this post. It’s the darker of the two cards. The red was used a different Designer Series Paper.

Making Color Decisions

We let the patterned paper do the choosing on this card. We just had to lay the cut pieces on some cardstock and started searching for stamps and adhesive.

Ann’s got all the colors. She loves that. But not everyone has that luxury. So we recommend that every now & then, you purchase an assortment pack of cardstock. Then you’ll have a couple sheets of all the colors – even the ones that you don’t use a lot. You don’t need to buy them all at once. Just add a pack every now and then.

Of course, this doesn’t apply to the color families you gravitate to. For Ann, I believe it’s the Regals, but she uses a lot of Neutrals too.

What’s your favorite color family?

Ribbon Wasn’t Cutting It This Time

Besides the color yellow, Ann doesn’t use a lot of Baker’s Twine. It’s not that it’s a bad thing. It’s just not the first thing that she grabs.

However, ribbon just wasn’t cutting it for today’s card.

Ann just secured the Baker’s Twine with some Tear & Tape. (You could use Scotch tape for this.) Then she wrapped the Baker’s Twine around the Highland Heather layer of cardstock. She then took a second piece of Baker’s Twine and tied a little bow – just like tying a shoelace.

It gave it just enough black to tone it down a bit. At least that’s what I thought when I sent her my pupographic message. And I’m glad she paid attention.
