There’s something for everyone on Halloween whether you’re young or old. So what do you think is the recipe for a great Halloween?

First and Foremost…

Buy good candy!

Now, there are a few ways to look at this. If you’re afraid that you might eat it all before the trick or treaters come, then you might not buy a candy you like. I get that. Ann doesn’t leave chocolate around where Domino can get it. Ain’t going to happen.

But you don’t want to buy the kind of candy kids don’t like. They’ll remember that.

Ann and my favorite huMAN often volunteer down the street at their Trunk or Treat that they do each Halloween. The church is already collecting candy for it! Some years, they ran the candy around to all the trunks. You would not believe how many Snickers bars, Reese’s cups and other Halloween Delights can fit into a huge hotel-sized laundry bin!

Get in the Spirit

You don’t have to dress up, but a fun little light in the window can add a little Halloween spirit. Perhaps you can ask if you can take a picture of your favorite visitors. Compliment them. Smile! Make them welcome!

You can get in the spirit early by sending your friends and loved ones a card! Ann tested out some of the new scrapbook paper that Stampin’ Up! recently added. But, of course, she made a card from it.

You can get 8 cards from one sheet of these Halloween recipe books. The Halloween Spells Designer Series Paper in the scrapbook brochure (see it here on pg 25) is a bit different from our Designer Series Paper in the Annual Catalog and the rest of our online store. You still get 12 sheets, but you get 3 sheets of 4 different designs.

The thin strip of orange came from the reverse side of the paper.

So you could make 24 of these cards from one pack of paper and still have lots of fun paper to work with.

A Bit Different

We did something a bit different with the cat on this one. Of course, black cats are what you usually think of for Halloween, but we’d recommend stamping the cat in Tuxedo Black onto Basic Gray cardstock so that you can see the detail.

After that, Ann took the light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blend & added a little shading. If she got it a little too dark, she used the Color Lifter to remove some of the shading.

She almost added a bit of bling, but figured we’d keep this one simple with just stamps, ink and paper. (#SIP)
