With all the crazy Summer weather everyone is having, we’re breaking out a new stamp set to share a Hello Sunshine card.

What was I thinking! Wish 170 million people on heat alert, you might not want to see a card full of sunshine. Or maybe you would.

The colors we used were all picked from the Boho Vibes 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. It’s a color combination that we’re warming up to.

Believe me, it looks better in real life, but I want to give you some tips about making this card.

What Causes Heat Embossing to Dimple?

Dimpling like what happened on our card, could be caused by a few things. But we are certain about what happened to ours.

Here are some of the things that can cause dimpling on your heat embossed item:

  • Not heating the surface long enough
  • Not enough embossing powder
  • Too little ink

For us, we know it was too little ink. We got out a brand new uninked Basic White Craft pad. We took an ink refill and applied it to the uninked pad. Then we applied pressure with the back of a plastic spoon to rub the ink into the pad. (Otherwise, it would just sit on top.)

We covered the whole pad, but it did seem a little dry. And we were right. It was a bit too dry which gave us the dimpling effect.

We still liked it so we left it that way. If you heat the surface too long, the ink can cook right into the cardstock. So you don’t want that either.
