We opened up two new stamp sets to make today’s birthday candles card. We wanted to make the colors pop. Please let us know if we did.

What color do you use to stamp line art just before you add color? I’ll bet most of you would say black. We didn’t do that this time. We used Basic Gray for the cake and for the words.
I like that we can make those choices when we create.
Of course, Ann colored with her favorite medium – our Stampin’ Blends which are alcohol based markers. For many years, we use Tuxedo Black Memento ink whenever we wanted to color with our Stampin’ Blends. But as soon as someone mentioned that we could use any of Stampin’ Up!’s color palette (except Basic White Craft Ink), we’ve been using lots of different options.

In hindsight, I think I should’ve had Ann put the little pieces of blling on the periods in the greeting. I think that would be so impressive! Would you remind her next time. We used the Strawberry Slush & Pretty in Pink Gems that we love so much.
Now, I should mentioned that in real life, the Cloud Cover card base doesn’t look as blue as it does on our computer screen. We almost did a Basic Gray card base, but like the Cloud Cover better. It’s a great color of cardstock.
When You’re Looking For….

I would also recommend that you look at your staples and see how your stash is:
- Dimensionals
- Adhesives
- Cardstock – try an assortment pack if you’d like all the colors
- Stampin’ Blends – are the tips worn?
- Markers – are they dry?

Pretty card. I think the bling works in either place. I usually use black ink for the outline. Good to know the other colors will work, too.
I’m barking about when you’re coloring with Stampin’ Blends. Ann was trained to use Memento Ink, but just recently learned that any of our Classic Inks can work. We’re all learning!
