What are the first things you grab when you need a quick card? With one sleep before leaving Ann made this wavy water birthday card for her brother.

Just because she made it quickly doesn’t mean that she didn’t put a lot of thought and love into it because she’s so proud of him and likes to see him and his family doing well.

But when time is of the essence, here’s our list of go-to crafting supplies (besides stamps, inks & cardstock):

  • Patterned paper
    • Nothing can beat the quality and design of Stampin’ Up!’s Designer Series Paper
  • Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
  • Dies

And if you really want something special…

  • Heat Tool
  • VersaMark or White Craft Ink
  • Metallic Embossing Powders

And if you don’t have an Embossing Buddy, you can get one in our Embossing Additions Kit while they’re still available. That will help Keep the stray powder where you want it.

Is that list similar to your list?

I’m sure that you’ve heard the saying that “it’s the thought that counts”. We hope that he likes it.

You see, there’s a lake up in Ann’s hometown that is pretty special, especially to her brother. Their grandparents lived on it. And her brother has lived on it in a couple different places. It’s pretty big and the sunsets are gorgeous.

Her brother took the time to teach Ann how to waterski on that lake before she and my favorite huMAN were married. She still remembers being thrilled to finally go around this small island without falling down!

In fact, Ann almost drowned twice in that lake! Once when she was 18 months old, she walked off her grandparents dock. This same brother was supposed to be watching her. Her dad had to dive in and get her out.

There was another time just before she took swimming lessons. She was about 10. The kids were going from one end of a float to the other. She fell off into the deep water. The neighbor kid saved her.

Looking back at events like that can help you realize how lucky and blessed we are. And yes,.. Swimming lessons followed shortly after.

Even though this Designer Series Paper came from the Gone Fishing Suite Collection, we were happy to use it for a non-fishing card. I think that’s the next thing Ann’s going to invest in.
